Anna Hoyle Counselling
Helping you find greater self-awareness, self-compassion and self-acceptance
Sometimes life can feel overwhelming.
Sometimes we feel stuck and unable to move forward.
Sometimes the feelings and experiences we try to bury and ignore become unbearable.
And sometimes we just feel disconnected - unseen and unheard.

Recognising when things are not OK and reaching out for support takes real courage.
Sometimes we might reach out to a friend, a relative or a colleague. But sometimes we might feel ashamed of how we think, feel and behave – or simply don’t want to burden loved ones with our troubles.
Counselling provides that safe and confidential space where you can explore your innermost thoughts, feelings and behaviours with a warm and empathetic listener, who accepts and supports you without judgement.
Being vulnerable and self-reflective can feel scary - yet it can also be incredibly liberating and empowering.
By looking for a therapist you have already taken a big step towards seeking a more fulfilling way of being – where you can feel OK with yourself and the world around you.
About
Creating an open, non-judgemental and trusting relationship with my
clients is essential for therapeutic change. My aim is to give you a safe space where you can feel seen, heard and validated in your thoughts, feelings and experiences.
My counselling approach is founded in the beliefs that we are all OK, we are all autonomous and we all have the capacity and resources to make positive change. You can change negative thoughts, feelings and behaviours that are holding you back and no longer serve you. That often means reflecting on your past to better understand your present in order to make positive changes in the future.
Counselling is a collaborative process, based on mutual trust, respect and acceptance. Together, we can explore what's challenging you, identify your needs and find better coping skills going forward.

I have a Foundation Degree in Humanistic Counselling with Transactional Analysis and have also studied person-centred, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and psychodynamic counselling modalities. I will draw on theoretical knowledge and practical tools which I feel will best support you on a moment-to-moment, session-to-session basis. Your needs will be unique and I will work with you in a way which feels most comfortable and supportive to you. Working together, we will help you find greater self-awareness, self-compassion and self-acceptance.
As a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I am bound by the BACP Ethical Framework, upholding client confidentiality, safety and wellbeing and good practice. I undertake continuous professional development in the form of specialised training courses, academic reading and research, personal therapy and clinical supervision to support my counselling practice.
